Nature-Based Economic Development

Aarde Craft is an initiative of Art & Architecture Research Development and Education (AARDE) Foundation, Chennai. The not-for-profit social entrepreneurship was started in June 2010 to provide additional income to self-help women of Pulicat Lagoon.

The second-largest wetland in India, Pulicat Lagoon, covers an area of 759 sq.km, shared by two states of India - Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. The initiative mission is to create sustainable income through nature-based traditional craft to improve socially and environmentally conscious society.
